Men’s Trophy Conditions

Championships

Men’s Club Championship

Open to all Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior male Members with a daily handicap of twelve (12) or less.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play qualifying played on the one day.  First eight (8) qualify for match play rounds over eighteen (18) holes.  In the event of a tie, sudden death play-off in accord with Golf Australia provisions, will apply.  The final played over thirty-six (36) holes.

RF Stevens Trophy

Leading qualifier in Club Championship qualifying rounds – in the event of a tie decided by sudden death playoff.

Men’s B and C Grade Championships

Open to Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior male Members.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play qualifying, played on consecutive Saturdays in conjunction with Club competition.  First eight (8) qualify for match play rounds in each grade.  All match play rounds over eighteen (18) holes – squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Men’s A, B & C Grade Plates

Open to Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior male Members.  Thirty-six (36) holes handicap stroke play qualifying, played on consecutive Saturdays in conjunction with the Club competition.  First eight (8) qualify for handicap match play rounds in each grade.  All handicap match play rounds over eighteen (18) holes – squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Boy’s Club Junior Championship

Open to all junior male Members.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, four (4) qualify for matchplay rounds.  All match play rounds over eighteen (18) holes – squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Max Dale Trophy

Open to full male Members 55 years of age and over at the date of the first qualifying round.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play qualifying, played on consecutive Saturdays in conjunction with Club competition.  First eight (8) qualify for match play rounds – countback will apply in the event of a tie.  Match play rounds over eighteen (18) holes – squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Men’s Club Foursomes Championship

Open to all Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior male Members.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, played on one day.  In the event of a tie a sudden death playoff will apply.

Men’ A, B & C Grade Handicap Foursomes Event

Open to all Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior male Members with a daily handicap of twelve (12) or less.  Eighteen (18) holes handicap stroke play, played on one day, in each grade.  In the event of a tie a countback will apply.

Men’s Club Mixed Foursomes Championship

Open to Full, Provisional, Intermediate and Junior Members.  Eighteen (18) holes scratch stroke play.  In the event of a tie to be decided by sudden death playoff.  Played in conjunction with the Owen Whitford Trophy qualifying round.

Jimmy McLachlan Memorial Trophy

Open to all professional & amateur male Members.  Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, played on one day.  In the event of a tie a sudden death playoff will apply.

Awarded to the best gross score in each grade in the Club competition.

AH Smerdon Memorial Par

Eighteen (18) holes par.

Anzac Memorial Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Brian Bashford Memorial Trophy

Best two (2) of four (4) Wednesday stableford rounds.

Men’s Captain’s Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Don Watson Memorial Par

Eighteen (18) holes par.

Men’s Eclectic

All nominated stroke events.  Half handicap at time of final round to apply.  Trophies awarded to each grade.

FA Lewis Memorial Stableford

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Frank Collins Memorial Stableford

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Glenelg Trophy

Thirty-six (36) holes handicap stroke play conducted in conjunction with Saturday competitions.

Harold Wright Memorial Stableford

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Joe Ashton Trophy

Thirty-six (36) holes stableford, open to Members seventy (70) years of age and over.

Milo Sprod Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes stableford, open to full Members sixty (60) years of age and over.

Reg Sands Starter’s Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Norm Omond Memorial Medal

Open to players who have won a stroke event contributing to the Eclectic.  Final played in A, B, and C divisions in conjunction with final Eclectic round. Players to play in division according to handicap on that day.

Men’s President’s Trophy

Four ball better ball par event. Four pairs to qualify for matchplay rounds to be played on the following two Saturdays at a time designated by the Club.  Squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Rawson Memorial Stableford

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Sam Percival Memorial Par

Eighteen (18) holes par.

Steve McKee Memorial Stableford

Eighteen (18) holes stableford.

Summer Cup

Best three of five par rounds – December to February.

Men’s Matchplay Trophy

Knockout handicap matchplay event, open to all male Members.

Don Harris Memorial Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes handicap Canadian foursomes.

Lance Begg Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes handicap Canadian foursomes.

Winter Pinehurst Foursomes Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes handicap Pinehurst foursomes.

Burgandy Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes handicap Team Aggregate Stableford.

State Events

Brian Ferris Memorial Trophy

Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, forming part of the Golf SA Vardon series of events.  Open to all amateur male Members of Golf Australia affiliated clubs, with an Australian handicap not exceeding four (4).  In the event of a tie to be decided by sudden death playoff. 

Eric Scovell Trophy

Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, forming part of the Golf SA Junior Vardon series of events.  Open to all male Members of Golf Australia affiliated clubs, under the age of eighteen (18) years on the day of the event, and with an Australian handicap not exceeding ten (10).  In the event of a tie to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Owen Whitford Trophy

Open handicap mixed foursomes, comprising an eighteen (18) hole qualifying round to determine top sixteen (16) qualifying positions, then eighteen (18) hole handicap matchplay rounds. Squared matches to be decided by sudden death playoff.

The Tuohy Trophy

Eighteen (18) holes handicap Canadian Foursomes open to pairings of two generations of family Members, either Parent/Child or Grandparent/Grandchild (including step sons/daughters or step grandsons/granddaughters).  Pairings can be all male, all female, or mixed.

Glenelg Women’s Vardon

Thirty-six (36) holes scratch stroke play, forming part of the Golf SA Women’s Vardon series of events.  Open to all amateur female Members of Golf Australia affiliated clubs, with an Australian handicap not exceeding 15.  In the event of a tie to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Unless otherwise stated, ties shall be decided by countback.

Rhonda Watson Brooch

For South Australian Clubs Silver Team Championship. The teams to consist of three players and is played over 18 holes.  The team with the lowest total of the three gross scores will be the winner of the Championship and the team with the lowest total of the three nett scores will be the winner of the Handicap event (trophy).

Women’s Club Championship

Two qualifying rounds.  Eight to qualify followed by match play.  The final to be played over 36 holes.

Women’s B and C Grade Trophies & ‘C’ Grade Plate

Two qualifying rounds.  Eight to qualify followed by match play.  ‘B’ Grade final over 27 holes, ‘C’ Grade final over 18 holes.  ‘C’ Grade Plate will comprise two Stableford qualifying rounds with the two best scores playing a matchplay final over 18 holes.

Women’s Foursomes Championship

Two stroke rounds to be played on consecutive Tuesdays. Winners to have lowest aggregate gross score. Second round to be a shotgun start. In the event of a tie winners to be decided by sudden death playoff.

Women’s B and C Foursomes Trophies

Two stroke rounds to be played on consecutive Tuesdays. Winners to have lowest aggregate gross score. Second round to be a shotgun start. In the event of a tie winners to be decided by count back.

President’s Trophy

Two rounds, best net aggregate. Handicap – half of combined handicap. Played in conjunction with the Shylie Rymill Foursomes. If partner booked on time sheet and is unable to play, a substitute may be entered.

Captain’s Trophy

One round stroke play.  Best 16 nett scores to qualify for match play. Match play – full difference of handicap.  Each round to be played within stipulated date on draw sheet. If no results shown by due date both competitors will be disqualified.  In the event of a match being squared at the 18th, the winner will be decided immediately by a hole by hole playoff with the appropriate strokes being given and received.

Womens Club Medal

Two Club Medals to be played per year.  Two stroke rounds – one division – best net aggregate over both rounds. In the event of a tie, all players on winning score to receive a medal.

Essex Stroke

Players may enter at any stage of the competition. Four rounds to be played.  Winners – including ties – of each round to play in final.  A player winning a round in both divisions must nominate which division she will contest, before play in the final, which will be played on current handicap.  Finalists names to be posted on board prior to programmed final play off date.

Consistency Cup

Four rounds of stableford to be played.  Winner – aggregate best three rounds.

Shane Robinson Trophy

To be played in conjunction with one Stableford round.  Best overall Stableford score to count.  In the event of a tie, the winner to be decided on a countback.

Eclectic

Trophies given for best nett and gross in each grade.  A full round not necessary for an alteration.  Three grades, ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’.  Half handicap at time of final round to apply.  The grade in which a player is eligible is determined by handicap on last day of play.

Most Improved

Player who the Match Committee considers to be most improved player during Winter Season as measured by reduction in handicap.

Veterans Handicap Event

Players must be 60 years of age before day of play.  Two rounds played on current handicap on each day of play, best et aggregate.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on a countback.

Caddies & Managers Trophy inc Pennant Managers

Any Member who has caddied for Women’s Pennant during the current season is eligible.  To be played in conjunction with the competition of the day.  Best net score.  In the event of a tie, winner to be decided on a countback.

Junior Girls Championship

18 hole stroke event.  Players must be under 18 years of age on the day of play and must hold a Golf Australia handicap.  In the event of a tie, winner decided on a countback.

Ella Cole Trophy

18 hole handicap event played in conjunction with the Junior Girls Championship.

Anne Smerdon Junior Invitational

18 holes event played in conjunction with the Junior Girls Championship.  Competitors must be under 21 years of age on the day of play.  Six entries to make a competition.  Current Golf Australia handicap must be 30 or under.

Lois White & Raynee Harmer Extreme Veterans Trophy

Players must be 80 years of age to qualify. Two 9 hole stableford rounds, best aggregate score.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on a countback.

Saturday Competition Trophies

Jacka Trophy

Six Saturday rounds of stableford to be played.  Winner – aggregate best 3 rounds.

Parfection Prize

Six Saturday rounds of par to be played.  Winner – aggregate best 3 rounds.

Wallace Stroke Event

Six Saturday competition stroke rounds to be played.

Winner – net aggregate best 3 rounds.

Golf SA Events

Laurel Wreath

Knockout handicap match play event – full difference of handicap.  Each round to be played within stipulated date on draw sheet.  If no results shown by due date both competitors will be disqualified.  In the event of a match being squared at the 18th, the winner will be decided immediately by a hole playoff with the appropriate strokes being given and received.

International Bowl

Silver and Bronze Divisions. (This competition is run to raise money to send Australian golfers overseas).  Best one of three 18 hole stroke rounds

Shylie Rymill Handicap Foursomes

Played in conjunction with the President’s Foursomes.  The winning pair recording the lowest nett score. Half combined handicaps shall be used.  This is a State-wide event and the winning card from each Club will be returned to Golf SA.  The best nett score within Glenelg Golf Club will win a Shylie Rymill Brooch each. In the event of a tie a countback will apply.
