It was the last round of Bonnar Cup and we needed results to go our way to qualify for the Final. Our first job was to win our contest against Kooyonga, all the Glenelg boys played well and we came away with a convincing 5 – 2 win: job done.
With only 2 rounds remaining, it was vital for Glenelg to win to keep some slim hope of getting into the Final – unfortunately having to rely on other games to go our way!
Playing Flagstaff Hill on their home course was always going to be a tough contest. Throughout the day it was obvious the home team were generally finding the fairways and managing the greens that little bit better than the Glenelg players.
The Bonnar boys responded to the challenge for a strong win by playing solid golf early and establishing big leads over the first 9 holes.
The Bonnar Cup team put up a valiant effort against The Vines at North Adelaide yesterday but fell agonisingly short to lose the contest 2.5 – 4.5.
In a contest that promised to be an absorbing battle, it turned out exactly that way with a tied result.
The Bonnar Cup team this year is a very strong side and if the players can maintain their form, attitude and confidence throughout the season, we should again be very competitive as we endeavor to defend our Bonnar Cup title from last year.
Following unprecedented success in the 2017 Pennant Season we are seeking your support to maintain the momentum in 2018.
Well, THE day finally arrived – the Bonnar Cup Final! The Glenelg boys went through the season undefeated, but this was the day that counted.
