Hole 9 Information

The 9th hole is a strong completion to an imposing front nine of golf at Glenelg with a green complex that keeps you on edge.

The fairway rises from the tee to a natural plateau at the base of Pine Hill that leans slightly left to right. A safe tee shot is down the high left side of the fairway, but you may not like the approach angle to the green from there. There is a large hybrid bunker on the right side of the fairway nestled into the pine trees adjacent to the sandy heath that you encountered on the previous hole. Settling a tee shot close to this hybrid bunker will provide you with a more favourable approach to the green.

The green is perched up by sleepers on the right side along the water’s edge and is the first visual highlight you encountered when driving in the front gates of Glenelg Golf Club. This green is wide at the front and narrows as you move some 40 metres to the back edge. There is plenty of space to miss the green on the left and avoid the water on the right but a recovery here may turn out to be more difficult than expected with contours working against you. The majority of this green slopes away from the water but if the pin is in a middle right position, take extreme caution.
