Hole 8 Information

The 8th is one of the few holes on course combining all key features of the Glenelg Golf Club. With sleepers on the tee wrapping a water carry, to sleepers defining the greenside hybrid bunker in view through towering pines, alongside one of the best examples of sandy heath, this hole touches on all senses.

An imposing tee shot confronts all skill levels of golfers asking them to make a choice of angle and distance. Carrying the sandy heath along the right side will leave the player with the best angle into the green but slightly too far right and you’ll find yourself in the dual fairway with no clear shot to the green. Longer hitters must negotiate the fairway bunker on the left and wetland beyond the bunker. Shorter hitters aiming left off the tee to avoid the water and sandy heath will be facing a more difficult angle and length into this green.

The approach into this green appears gentle due to the mounding funnelling you toward the green but don’t be deceived. This elevated green is heavily guarded on the left by a cavernous hybrid bunker and short grass surrounds on the right and rear. The approach accepts a run up shot but watch the contours short of the green that can easily steer your ball offline. There is a sneaky internal mound in the middle back section of this green that needs to be negotiated for any rear pin positions.
