Women’s Grade 1 aiming for 4-in-a-row this Sunday

Glenelg's Sophie James

Report by Cathy Johnson (Manager)

Our A1 Ladies completed the minor round with an emphatic 5-0 win over Kooyonga

Sarah Crocker at number 5, maintained her unbeaten record over the last two Pennant seasons with a very strong 8/6 win

Josie Hodge at number 4, was slow to start and found herself 2 down after nine but was back to square after eleven and 2 up after 13. She closed her match out 3/2 on the 16th.

Jill Hodge at number 3, had a few ups and downs early but made steady progress and also won 3/2

Sophie James at number 2, started strongly and never looked back with a great 5/3 win.

Elysia Yap worked extremely hard to stay in her match but found herself 3 down after nine. She steadied well but had not made any gains after 13 – still 3 down. Caddy Matilda Wheare declared she was “back” after 13, how prophetic! After a half on 14, Elysia won 15 and 16 with great pars and then surged home with birdies on 17 and 18 to win her match 1 up….. awesome win!

Next Sunday the girls play in the final against The Grange at Kooyonga…. attempting to win their 4th Pennant Flag in a row.  We would LOVE support from Glenelg Golf Club members.
