COURSE ETIQUETTE: Bunker raking

Golfers showing total disregard for basic bunker etiquette

Bunker raking is a simple part of golfing etiquette by showing respect for fellow players, and is the responsibility of ALL golfers.

Course maintenance staff routinely (2-3 times per week) rake and prepare bunkers prior to a day’s play, but the onus is on the golfers to look after themselves and each other for the majority of the time by repairing any damage they have caused.

Last Tuesday morning, course staff prepared the bunkers for the day’s play by raking bases and smoothing faces. The images below were taken on the Wednesday morning below play, after just one day of play, and are examples of the type of damage becoming increasingly common, where there is clearly NO attempt to rake foot marks or club damage.

The question has to be asked…..would you be happy to finish in a lie like this as a result of someone else showing no regard for others?

We ask all members and guests to respect the course and each other……..after all, it is YOUR responsibility.
