Glenelg’s Jenny Lee and Lachlan Barker have been named on Golf Australia’s development/watch list for the 2015 golf season.
Announced today with the 2015 Golf Australia National Squad, the national body advised of its intention to “closely watch the progress of other players in 2015.”
“It is important for athletes to understand that Golf Australia is monitoring and assisting the development of players outside the National Squad,” Brad James, Golf Australia’s High Performance Director, said.
“The development/watch list athletes are also the future of Australian golf as they challenge for national squad selection.”
Lee and Barker join The Grange’s Ella Adams as the only three South Australian’s to make the 2015 development/watch list.
The Grange’s Anthony Murdaca, who is coached by Glenelg’s Head Teaching Professional, Gareth Jones, and who recently took out the 2014 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, has been named in the 2015 Golf Australia National Squad and is the sole SA representative.
The nine-member squad will be provided assistance from Golf Australia to further develop their golfing careers whilst working closely with State High Performance programs. Squad players have been categorised by performance criteria.
James said that being named to the squad was reward for player dedication.
“The players in this year’s squad have all performed at an elite amateur and professional level,” James said.
“The increased resources and opportunities that National Squad athletes receive will only further their development as GA strives to produce world class athletes.”
