A2 Women’s team lose close round 3 tussle

Round 3 at The Vines was one of the closest matches I’ve ever witnessed – it went down to the last putt on the last hole in the last match. We had one early loss and one early win with the other three girls all going down the 18th.  Two matches were halved and one lost for a 2 – 3 defeat.

Louise Pike at number five had a closely fought match all day and from 2 down after 12, managed to get back to square by 16 and halved her match.

Sam White, playing at number four, was 2 down early, got it back to square after nine but was again 2 down after 16. Sammy rallied and won 17 and 18 (with an eagle!) to square her match also.

Sue Tuohy, at number three this week, enjoyed the reduced pressure from not playing at number one and rewarded us handsomely with a great 6 and 4 win.

Bec Hughes, at number two, played well but could not get her nose in front. She teed off the 18th hole 1 down and halved that hole for a 1 down finish.

Sue Raggatt was given the daunting job at number one, and although she played quite well, her very well credentialed opponent was on song all day and beat her 6 and 5.

We are at Glenelg Golf Club next week but play a very strong Vines team – fingers crossed we can get a win at home.
