The Bonnar Cup team has taken on a new look for 2014 – there has been lots of player movements for various reasons with Will Starkey the only surviving player from last year’s Bonnar Cup team that made the final. So the challenge is on this year for virtually a new team to maintain the competitiveness of last year’s team and once again put us in contention to seriously challenge for the Bonnar Cup.
This was a really important match for us to win – to gain confidence and winning momentum.
From early on, our boys took a decisive advantage and throughout the day, Glenelg always looked like having a comfortable victory – well done on maintaining the pressure throughout the day to defeat Mt Osmond, 5 matches to 2.
Congratulations and special mention to Sam Raschella on making his Glenelg Golf Club men’s pennant debut – playing at number four, he recovered from 2 down after five to win six of the next seven holes to go on and win 5/3 – well done Sam.

Marty Ardill, at number seven, had an absorbing duel all day – he won the 16th and 17th to get his game back to all square but lost the last to lose one down. John Noble at number five struggled on the tricky greens and lost his match 8/6.
Thank you to the caddies for their support to the players and to Chris Whitford for coming out to watch the team – greatly appreciated.
Next Sunday we play The Vines at Mt. Osmond from 12.10pm. This will be another important match to win to continue our winning momentum.
