Local and Temporary Rules Update

Dear Members,

Following the successful reopening of the full Course on Saturday, 6th December, we would like to provide a refresher on several important updates to the Club’s Local Rules and Temporary Local Rules.

These changes have been introduced to support safe play and to protect the newly enhanced areas of the Course until they are fully established.

Local Rules can be accessed at any time through both the Club and MiScore apps, while Temporary Local Rules are displayed on the Club noticeboard and available via the link below.

A key recent addition to the Club’s Local Rules is the introduction of a “Penalty – No Play Zone” surrounding the Pavilion and 10th tee area, when playing the 7th hole only. This zone is clearly marked with Red-topped Black Stakes.

This measure has been put in place to protect the Pavilion and ensure the safety of Members and guests using the facility. It also prevents players from gaining an unintended advantage by driving tee shots into this area without penalty.

          When playing the 7th Hole:

  • If your ball comes to rest in this Penalty – No Play Zone – You must proceed to the designated Drop Zone (Blue Stake) and continue play with a one-stroke penalty.

When playing the 9th hole

  • The above Local Rule does NOT apply. A ball coming to rest in the Pavilion area, instead receives free relief under Rule 16.1a at the nearest point of complete relief from the Pavilion.

Additionally, the main car park remains a No Play Zone. Any ball coming to rest in this area must be played from the designated Drop Zone (Blue Stake) without penalty.

The Drop Zone stake is only to be used if your ball comes to rest in the “Carpark”. A ball coming to rest in the newly constructed mounding “No Play Zone” area, relief MUST be taken at the “Nearest Point” of complete relief, no nearer the hole.

In addition to these holes, Members should note the following:

When playing the 1st Hole:

  • If your ball comes to rest in the “No Play Zone” on the left-hand side of the fairway adjacent to the Driving Range, relief MUST be taken at the “Nearest Point” of complete relief, no nearer the hole.

Please Note: The penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the General Penalty – Two Stroke Penalty.

If a ball is played from an area not allowed, the General Penalty of two strokes will apply. The shot must be replayed, from the “Nearest Point” of complete relief or from the designated “Drop Zone” if relevant to that area. Errors must be corrected before starting the next hole or submitting your scorecard, or you risk disqualification. Repeated or serious breaches may also lead to disqualification, even if corrected.

The recovery of the fairways and surrounds following the recent course renovations has progressed better than anticipated. As a result, “Preferred Lies” throughout the Course will be lifted effective Monday, 15th December.

A ball coming to rest on one of the newly turfed areas, relief as per the Club’s “Seams of Cut Turf” Local Rule applies.

We appreciate your cooperation in observing these rules and helping protect both the facilities and the integrity of play as we settle into the reopened Course.

If you require further clarification, please let me or the Pro Shop team know. Alternatively, you can refer to the Rules section on the Club website.
