New Women’s Golf Structure

Dear Members,

Following recent consultation with the women’s membership and consideration by the Committee of Management (COM), we wish to formally advise that it has now been approved by COM for the new structure to take effect on the 1st February 2026. From this date, the existing women’s committee, including the captain, vice-captain and president roles, will come to an end, and I take this opportunity to thank them all for their wonderful service and support throughout this transition period.

To begin the process, we are now calling for nominations for the new  Head of Women’s Golf (HOWG) role, who will join the Women’s Golf Sub-Committee, alongside two women COM members and Club staff

Following feedback from Members, it was requested that the governance structure not be discussed at the Women’s Christmas Ambrose, as this is a social and fun event to end the year. This feedback has been accepted, and therefore, this topic will not be discussed at the Women’s Christmas Ambrose. We hope you all enjoy the event, as it is usually one of the highlights of the golfing year.

CONSULTATION

At the women’s annual meeting event, the proposed new structure was first presented to members. This was followed by a detailed email outlining the model, together with the presentation slides and a Q&A document addressing key areas of interest. Women were then given the opportunity to provide feedback before any further discussion at the recent COM meeting. We received six emails from women in response, all of which contained thoughtful, constructive feedback and helpful suggestions. We sincerely thank those members who took the time to contribute. Many of the ideas and suggestions have been carefully considered and incorporated into the final framework.

DOCUMENTATION

As a result of this process, two key documents have now been developed and are attached for your information:

NOMINATIONS FOR HEAD OF WOMEN’S GOLF

Women are able to self-nominate for the role of HOWG. Nominations are now officially open. Any eligible female member, as outlined in the attached role description, is encouraged to consider nominating. Nominations will close on Tuesday, 16th December at 5:00 pm.

To nominate for the position, please send an email to robert@glenelggolf.com outlining your interest in the role and any relevant experience.

SELECTION PROCESS

It has been agreed that a broad and highly experienced selection panel will assess all nominations and make a recommendation. The panel will comprise:

  • Former Women’s Committee members: Cathie Molloy, Annabel Hamilton, Kristin Jeffery, Michelle McCormack and Joanie Connell
  • Representatives from the new Women’s Golf Committee: Anna Standish, Kristin Jeffery, Shane (Golf Ops) and Robert (GM)
  • Club Captain: Paul Grosvenor
  • Senior women members with extensive knowledge and experience: Helen McMutrie and Sue Tuohy

Once nominations have closed, all candidates will be contacted and an interview will be conducted with one person from each of the above categories. Once all candidates have been interviewed, the full selection panel will provide their recommendation to the COM for approval. Members will be advised of the successful candidate as soon as it has been determined.

MOVING FORWARD

We firmly believe this new structure will strengthen women’s golf at Glenelg by providing clearer pathways, stronger representation, and improved support across all areas of participation. We are confident it will build positively on the strong foundations and wonderful culture that already exists within our women’s membership.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss any aspect of the structure or nomination process, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.

Kind regards,

Robert Vincekovic
