Jack Buchanan secures DP World Tour Status

Jack Buchanan, Glenelg Golf Club Ambassador, has earned a new opportunity on the DP World Tour after finishing 6th on the 2024 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. After Lucas Herbert (3rd) and Cameron Smith (4th) declined their DP World Tour card, Buchanan moves into 4th position and holds a category 18, which is equal to the same as a Q school category. He recently contested the gruelling six‑round Final Stage of the DP World Tour Qualifying School in Spain — a field of 150‑plus players, a cut after 72 holes for the top 60, and a coveted top 20 finish required for full 2026 tour status.

In a remarkable week of golf, Buchanan carded rounds of 70‑74‑67‑68‑66‑67 (‑16 total) to finish 26th, just two shots shy of the 20th‑place cutoff. Although he fell just short of capturing one of the top 20 cards, he has secured status on the secondary Hotel Planner Tour.

The achievement is even more compelling because the final three rounds were played without a driver after a cracked club head, a testament to his resilience and competitive mindset.

Buchanan’s next tournament will be the PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour to be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 19th to 22nd November.

It’s a fitting next chapter for the Glenelg‑based rising star, whose standout ball‑striking and driving prowess have been evident since his amateur days and recent Australasian Tour victories. With this momentum behind him, Buchanan now steps into European competition with significant status and a clear platform to build toward full DP World Tour membership.
