McMillan Shield Report 5/2/2023

The second round of McMillan Shield was held at Tea Tree Gully yesterday. Conditions were perfect and the course was in fantastic condition.

We played Thaxted Park, with the boys up against it with only 4 players available this week. We had to win 3 of 4 matches to secure a win.

Jayneil Rudrappagari was our number one this week and endured an up and down battle against Kai McVie. Both boys played very solid golf with Jay getting up for a 3&2 win. Riley Trimmer was playing at number 3 and had a very tough match against Dylan. Despite playing steady golf Riley was beaten 5&4 with Dylan playing fantastic golf on the day.

Our youngest player – Gareth Thien who is only 9 years old played at number 4. Gareth managed a 3&1 victory against Jett Henley which included an incredible par on a challenging 184m par 3. Always smiling, it was fantastic to see someone so young enjoying the experience.

Campbell Hossack played Jordan Cranwell at number two. This was a very even pairing with only two halved holes for the entire match. All square with two holes to play, Campbell holed a clutch putt on the 17th to go one up. With a 3 pointer on the last hole securing the win.

The whole team fought hard for a 3&2 win against a very experienced Thaxted Park team.

Both teams supported each other during their matches and learnt a lot about playing on a different style of golf course. It is a pleasure to manage such polite and respectful players.

Next week we are off to Royal Adelaide.
