Glenelg’s Campbell Rawson sits inside the top 10 leading into Sunday’s final round of the 2013 Golf SA Classic.
Rawson, who was runner-up to Matt McGowan in the 2012 Club Championships, has continued has recent good form in Vardon events across the State to fire rounds of 75, 71, 71, for a three-round total of 217 (four-over) to be tied in 9th position with former Glenelg member, and Australian College of Elite Golf student, Troy Moses, and to be the leading South Australian in the tournament.
Rawson and Moses sit eight shots behind leader, Daniel Hoeve, from Kwinana Golf Club in Western Australia, who followed up his first two rounds of 68 and 71 with a one-under par 70, to be four-under for the tournament, and holding a four shot lead heading into the final round on Sunday.
Indooroopilly’s Aaron Wilkin sits at even-par for the tournament in second place, one shot ahead of National Squad member, Nathan Holman, from Woodlands Golf Club in Melbourne.
Round of the day went to Robina Woods’ Simon Viitakangas with a three-under par 68, to place him tied in 4th position behind Hoeve, Wilkin and Holman. Jack Munro and Dale Brandt-Richards join Viitikangas at two-over par for the tournament.
In the Rene Erichsen Salver, world number three, Minjee Lee, continues her unrelenting form, following up her course record 65 in round two with another four-under 68 in today’s third round to lead the field by a massive 13 shots going into the final round tomorrow. Round one leader, Cathleen Santoso, and Ashley Ona sit in second place on a very respectable three round total of 221 (five-over), four shots ahead of fourth placed Jayvie Agojo,
Glenelg’s Jenny Lee and Elysia Yap are placed 13th and 15th respectively, whilst youngster, Matilda Wheare rounds out the field in 21st place.
The final round of the Golf SA Classic and Rene Erichsen Salver commences from 7:30am on Sunday morning at Glenelg Golf Club.
