Our first port of call set a wonderful tone for what we would experience throughout much of Adelaide. Once considered a rung below the likes of Royal Adelaide, Kooyonga and Grange, Glenelg has joined the company of some of Australia’s finest courses in the wake of design work undertaken by two of South Australia’s great golf talents in Neil Crafter and Bob Tuohy.

Since 2006 when Glenelg was ranked 69th in our (Golf Digest) biennial Top 100 Courses ranking, it has climbed to 40 in the country last March and there is no suggestion the upward trend wont continue.

What you will face over 18 holes is embodied in the very first, a par 4 of 293 metres, with the fairway narrowing at the 192 m point and a lake through the fairway to the right. It won’t be the first time you stand on the tee and ask yourself, ‘What club should I hit here?’

Holes 12 – 16 are an absolutely superb collection while the 18th poses a terrifying approach shot with a match on the line and only a shot or two up your sleeve……
