Dear Members,
Thank you for your continued support through this period of constant change. Our aim throughout this period has been to keep everyone safe, whilst keeping the golf course open for Members. With the positive news continuing in South Australia, currently 13 Coronavirus free days in succession, continued course operation now seems a reality. I am also pleased to advise that we slowly return to some normality next week, with the commencement of Member competition golf.
Competition Golf
- Competition to resume as per normal every day from Monday 11th May.
- Social distancing and hygiene measures to continue with no bunker rakes, no touching of flags, marking of your own card, and entering of your own card via the scanners or mobile app.
- Prizes to be distributed as per normal.
- There will not be any Nearest the Pins. In lieu of the NTP prizes, additional money will be allocated to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in each grade.
- Play will continue as a 3-ball for the immediate future. Unfortunately we are unable to return to groups of 4 or implement two tee starts until the State or Federal Governments ease the gathering rule restrictions (of 10) in South Australia.
Booking Sheet Update
The plethora of changes to the way we have been booking and playing golf under the revised COVID-19 conditions has also brought with it some opportunities. Over the previous few weeks, the booking sheet has remained OPEN throughout the day, enabling a more fluid process of both cancelling and booking on the day, without having to make a phone call to the Pro Shop.
The OPEN booking sheet has provided more efficiency by providing real time cancellations and bookings. Members now have greater opportunity to secure their desired tee time and are less likely to experience frustration via delays in communicating with the Pro Shop.
The potential downside exists when a booked Member fails to show up, or alternatively cancels their tee time at the last minute. This scenario has always been present, however, and we ask that all Members of Glenelg Golf Club adhere to the etiquette of the game by displaying common courtesy towards their fellow Members and staff. No shows and last minute cancellations will be monitored and followed up by management.
Food & Drinks Available
Just a reminder that the Starters Hut is now operating every day with fresh hot coffee, cold drinks, and tasty food to keep you going during golf. Pop in and say hello to our team of friendly staff before the commencement of your round.
In addition, we are offering a range of fresh, healthy, hearty meals for you to take away and enjoy at home. Order before 4:00pm on 8350 3200, or at Starters Hut, and pickup prior to 5.30pm. Please check the Club website or Facebook page for the daily menu and specials.
Once again thank you to all Members for your understanding during the COVID-19 restrictions. I would also like to highlight the hard-working Pro Shop staff who have been on the front line throughout this whole process. They have provided a high level of service (and in particular cleanliness) whilst creating a sense of normality for all golfers through the constant barrage of restrictions, changes, and questions. I am certain you will join me in thanking the Pro Shop team.
Enjoy the competitions and good golfing!
