The Rhonda Watson Brooch 2019
On Monday 5th August, Glenelg Golf Club again hosted the Rhonda Watson Brooch. It was a perfect winter’s day for playing golf but many visitors found difficulty navigating our challenging course.
Players arrived from Naracoorte, the Mid North, South Lakes and Willunga and many of the city and hills courses.
The day began with fresh baked pastries and coffee and after the golf, ladies enjoyed lunch in the Members Lounge.
Sue Tuohy, Rhonda’s daughter attended to present the Trophy and prizes and we were all able to learn a little more about a very talented sportswoman, her amazing achievements and her service to women’s golf over many years.
This event is contested in two divisions, Silver for GA handicaps 15 and under and Bronze for handicaps 15.1 to 23.9.
In the Silver, our Glenelg team of Jo Ricourt, Jo Lendrum and Sandy Francas missed winning the trophy by just 4 strokes. The Silver Brooch was won by the team from The Vines – Cathy Hayward, Mary O’Hagan and Kathy Michaelsen with an aggregate gross score of 271.
In the Bronze, the West Lakes team finished in second place, one point behind Mt Osmond who scored 87 aggregate Stableford points. Players for Mt Osmond were Ros Brown, Judith Hodgson and Briony Williams.
Thanks must go to our Pro shop and Hospitality staff and to the Ladies’ Committee for running the event.
