CLUB NOTICE: Resignation of General Manager

Dear Members,

I am writing to advise Club Members and Staff that General Manager Ben Kavenagh will soon vacate his role as Glenelg Golf Club General Manager.  Ben has been approached and has elected to take up the CEO position at the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL.

Ben, who joined us early last year has overseen a significant organisational restructure, the creation of a new strategic plan, important constitutional amendments as well as planning and delivering new infrastructure projects.  He has made a most positive contribution to our future.

Ben advised me:

“I have loved my time at the prestigious Glenelg Golf Club.  I truly believe we have the most enjoyable course to play in the state, the most welcoming and friendly membership, a very capable Committee of Management led by Bevan Roberts and an outstanding Senior Management team.  Until very recently my thoughts and plans were focused solely on the continual improvement of our great Club, but this recently presented opportunity has proven too hard to ignore.

The Club has become a big part of my family life and despite my change of employment I plan for it to remain so.  My wife Emma has loved the Women’s Try-Golf program, my kids really enjoy the tuition of the fantastic Junior Tigers program and I certainly plan to keep up my membership at ‘The Bay’, post my time as an official.”

With Ben’s departure date set for June 8, the Committee is pleased to advise that former GGC GM, Adrian Edgar, who also managed Kooyonga and Indooroopilly GCs will fill the role as interim GM as the Club seeks a permanent replacement.
