Round 2 of the Golf SA Senior Pennant was played at South Lakes on Monday. The drive from Glenelg to Goolwa saw a massive downpour as we drove through the Willunga area. Fortunately by the time we hit off the rain had stopped but there was a cold, blustery wind sweeping across the course and making the slick greens just that bit more challenging.
We had a gigantic battle against a very determined Mt Barker team. With the score line at 3 matches all, the final result of a 4/3 win was achieved with Wayne Humphries recovering from 2 down after 13 to win 2 up.
Earlier, Anthony Doyle (4&3) and David Chantrell (5&4) continued their good golf and once again recorded strong wins. In another vital game Mike Dobson won a tight game 2 and 1.
Chris Whitford had a narrow 1 down loss, whilst Sandy Small battled valiantly for a 3 and 2 loss. Doug Clark had the toughest battle of the day playing good mate Doug Thom (who is also a member at Glenelg). Doug Thom was just too steady and handled the conditions really well to record a strong 8 and 7 win.
Our next match is against Mt Osmond to be played at Mt Barker on Monday October 17th.
