Mark McDonald and Elysia Yap have taken out the Club Mixed Foursomes and Golf SA Mixed Foursomes Championships during qualifying for the 2015 Owen Whitford Trophy on Sunday.
McDonald and Yap fired an 8-over par 79 in oppressive, hot and windy conditions to claim both titles which were played in conjunction with the qualifying rounds of the Owen Whitford Open Mixed Foursomes Championships. The Golf SA Mixed Foursomes title returned this year after a six-year hiatus and will be played as a component of the Owen Whitford Trophy in future years.
Runners up were Luke Bashford and Samantha White, a further 7 shots back which highlighted the difficult conditions faced by competitors today.
Jim and Cathy Johnson claimed first qualifying honours in the Owen Whitford Trophy, along the way collecting best net trophies in both the Golf SA and Club Mixed Foursomes events. The Johnsons have been rewarded with a bye in the first round of the Owen Whitford Trophy matchplay, along with 2nd qualifiers, Chris Whitford, son of the trophy namesake, and Jayne Staridas.
The Club would once again like to thank Mark & Janet Fleer, and the Tool Chrome Company, for their ongoing and significant sponsorship support of this great event.
