On Monday 9th March, Glenelg Golf Club hosted the official pre-qualifying event for the Women’s Australian Open, with 36 players competing for the opportunity to secure a place in the championship field.

The 18-hole qualifier attracted players from across Australia and overseas, all aiming to claim one of the limited qualifying positions available for the main event to be played at Kooyonga Golf Club from 12–15 March.

Among the field were several South Australian golfers, including Glenelg member Zoe Mantion, who finished in 24th place with a score of 78 (+5).

The competition for the final qualifying positions was particularly tight. After the completion of regulation play, six players were tied at +1 (74) and entered a playoff to determine the final three qualifying spots. The top five players from the pre-qualifying event ultimately secured their place in the field for the championship.

Hosting the pre-qualifier provided a great opportunity for members and spectators to watch high-level competition at Glenelg ahead of one of the biggest events on the Australian golfing calendar.
