Rhonda Watson Brooch – 2025 Results

Rhonda Watson became a Member of Glenelg Golf Club in 1948 and went on to enjoy an extraordinary playing career, while also ensuring that Women in golf were strongly represented. Her contribution to the game extended far beyond her playing days, with an administrative career that was equally impressive.

This event is recognised as one of the most prestigious in the Club’s calendar, and we are proud to continue acknowledging Rhonda’s remarkable legacy through her daughter, Sue Tuohy.

Rhonda joined Glenelg Golf Club as a Junior Member in 1948 and began her first of 26 years of Pennant competition in 1951. Her achievements on and off the Course are unparalleled. Rhonda was the first inductee into the Golf Industry Hall of Fame, won the Club Championship 13 times, and claimed the State Amateur title on 12 occasions – a national record. She was the first South Australian woman to record a scratch handicap, represented Australia as a National Team Member and Non-Playing Captain, and served as a tireless golf administrator and Committee Member.

In recognition of her lifelong service to the game, Rhonda was awarded Life Membership of both the SA Ladies Golf Union and Glenelg Golf Club.

Her impact on golf, both locally and nationally, is enduring, and her legacy continues to inspire generations of golfers.
