$4400 raised from our Quiz Night

On Friday May 3rd the Club held a very successful Quiz Night at the GGC, in aid of our Junior Foundation. Having previously organized a similar event for the club some 7 or 8 years ago I agreed to again develop the quiz questions and became the Quiz Master.

There was lots of laughter and fun and much concentration over the questions and answers, very ably delivered by Alex Manton, our Junior Captain and MC for the event. He is a potential ’Eddie Maguire’ in the making and spoke like a seasoned pro and added some wit and spark to the evening. Well done Alex!

We were fortunate to gain a host of very generous donations from some of our members for the evening. Our fantastic Ladies Captain, Jo Ricourt, donated 2 tickets to the final day of The British Open in July this year – a very kind donation .

We also had several donations from our Club Captain, Imelda Lynch who was unwell on the night but of course still made sure she delivered some valuable prizes to me.

Thanks too to our member wine sponsors from Woodstock Wines from Bob Burton and KT wines from Gary Thompson – the wine wall was a huge success!

Our main silent auction prize was 2 nights at the luxurious Triple Creek Wines vineyard in The Barossa, very kindly donated by the owner Dorham Pfieffer which Andrew Culley secured for a bargain! Other auction items which proved successful were the Oval Hotel donated by my husband Tony who is just so passionate about our great Club and a Melba’s premium chocolate pack!

Besides the Quiz questions, we had some eventful/fun games – putting competition, heads and tails and the games highlight – paper plane comp – the biggest round of laughter and applause was for our budding ‘Top Gun’ future pilot Gareth Thien who surprised everyone with a Exocet missile type paper plane.

I would like to thank all of you who supported Tony and I by either attending or donating.

Thanks to Zoe, Bec, Maiya and Grace for collecting and calculating the running scores and the junior boys with helping on the night.

Special thanks go to our resident Events Manager our beautiful Tash Bryant who ably assisted me a spruiked additional raffle tickets and took to the microphone to interview all juniors on the night. To me, she is the nucleus of our Club and we are so fortunate to have her. She is so energetic and dedicated. Thank you so much Tash for your help getting the evening together.

Thanks so much to all and we look forward to again hosting a bigger and even better Quiz Night next year.
