Members On Tour Update

The NZ Open was held last week but Jack Buchanan was not in the field.  Jack is currently competing in the China Tour International Qualifying School being played at Hainan from 5 to 10 March.

For the amateurs the Vardon event was held at Kooyonga last Sunday.  On a difficult day for scoring no player was able to break par.  The best of our players was young Max Jericho coming in 2nd shooting a very creditable 76. Our next best was Kade Bryant on 79.  The next event is at Blackwood on 7th April.

This week Kade is in Melbourne playing in the prestigious Riversdale Cup from 7-10 March.  Scoring can be followed at riversdalegolf.com.au.  That will be followed by the SA Amateur Classic for men and the Rene Erichsen Salver for women to be played at Royal Adelaide from 19-22 March.  At this stage Kade Bryant, Jack Leonard and Maiya Jakupec are in the field with Max Jericho an emergency.  These events hold World Amateur Golf Rankings status and attract the leading amateurs from all over Australia.

The Senior Order of Merit continues to provide strong results for Glenelg Members, with Tonia Ross finishing in first place in the 26th February event held at South Lakes Golf Club. The latest event was held at Mount Osmond where Nick Wake was runner up on 75.  In the Women’s section Christine Trimmer was the winner on 80 with Tonia Ross in second on 85.  It was Christine’s second win of the season. Well done ladies.  Tonia currently leads the order of merit by one point from Christine.  The next event is on 18 March at Tea Tree Gully.
