Last night five of our own Glenelg Members were honoured at the Australian Football League AFL Awards night.
Adelaide Crows players Taylor Walker and Jordan Dawson alongside Port Adelaide Football Club and waitlist Members Connor Rozee, Daniel Houston and Zak Butters were all named in the 2023 All Australian team.
Connor Rozee is the only Glenelg Member to have previously been named in the All-Australian Team with this year being named in the forward line alongside key forward and first time All-Australian Taylor Walker. Zak Butters, Dan Houston and Jordan Dawson all join Taylor Walker in making their All-Australian debuts with Butters being named on the ball, Houston in defence and Dawson on the interchange. Walker in his 16th season, had a remarkable year and cemented his spot in the All Australian forward line with 76 goals.
Zak Butters night continued to showcase his exceptional 2023 season with also being named the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award. Butters managed to tally 109 coaches votes across the year narrowly beating Marcus Bontempelli who tallied 102 across the season. Zak Butters also finished third in the AFL Players Association MVP voting.
The Club would like to congratulate Jordan Dawson, Taylor Walker, Zak Butters, Daniel Houston and Connor Rozee on their succesful personal seasons of 2023.
The quartet join past All-Australians who are current Members Erin Phillips, Tony Modra, Graham Cornes and Peter Carey.
