Owen Whitford Trophy
The final of the Owen Whitford Trophy was played on Sunday 27th November between Adam & Christine Trimmer and Louise Pike & Ben Chinner.
The conditions were windy, but the course was in amazing shape testing both teams playing from the black & yellow tees.
The Trimmers got out to a fast start being 3 up after 7 holes however the match tightened up and was eventually decided on the 17th hole with the final score line 2 & 1

Owen Whitford Challenge – Open Mixed Foursomes
The 2022 Owen Whitford Challenge, Club Mixed Foursomes, and the SA Mixed foursomes held on Sunday the 27th of November proved to be an exciting event. A field of 34 players (17 teams) took part in the events, including qualifying for the Owen Whitford Trophy.
The foursomes format is notoriously tough for scoring. However the pairing of Susan Keylock and Patrick Brind, both from Sandy Creek Golf Club, played a terrific round together, to post the best overall gross score of 78 to win the SA Mixed Foursomes Trophy for 2022.
- Runners Up – Cathy Symons & David Brand
- Third Place – Laura Birchmore & Nathan Baulderstone
In the Club Mixed Foursomes we had a very exciting finish, the team of Cathy Symons and David Brand tying with fellow club members and power couple Sarah and Chris Crocker with a gross score of 82, forcing a twilight play-off on the 1st hole at 6:45pm.
With the Men hitting the opening tee shots for the playoff hole, both Sarah and Cathy were were left tricky second shots into the green. Both approach shots missing the green, leaving Chris and David tough wedge shots to a tricky front pin. Sarah, sliding her 10 foot down hill putt past the right edge, leaving Cathy to make her 4 foot putt for the win. Cathy calmly rolled in the putt to become the 2022 Club Mixed Foursomes Champions giving David and Cathy their third win together.
The Owen Whitford Challenge is decided by the best overall nett score of the day. This was also claimed by Cathy Symons and David Brand, on a count back with a nett score of 71.5.

- Third Place – Christine & Adam Trimmer 72.5
Christine and Adam Trimmer have qualified first overall for the Owen Whitford Trophy Match Play finals, on Thursday the 1st of December.
Overall, a fantastic day of team golf and some exciting finishes. We thank and recognize the Whitford family for their ongoing support in this event and we look forward to the match play finals commencing on Thursday the 1st of December.
