Important Information Regarding Coronavirus

Dear Members,

I am sure you are well aware of the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the increasing number of people affected in Australia.

In the interest of all our Members, volunteers and staff, I would like to remind you of the following key Government advice to ensure we protect the interests of all our Members, volunteers and staff during this world wide epidemic.

How is coronavirus spread?

The coronavirus is most likely spread from person to person through:

  • Direct close contact with a person while they are infected
  • Close contact with a person with a confirmed infection, who coughs and sneezes
  • Touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face.

How can we help prevent the spread of coronavirus?

If you are unwell, please do not soldier on and bring it into the golf club. Stay away and follow this advice:

  • Wash your hands frequently. This is more effective at stopping the virus than bacterial hand sanitiser
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitiser if it’s not possible to wash your hands with soap and water.  We have this placed throughout the Clubhouse for your use
  • Practice cough etiquette (into your elbow, or into a tissue that you immediately dispose of) and then wash your hands
  • Practice alternate greetings to handshakes or kisses
  • Practice not touching your face

Travel

If you have recently returned from overseas in a country or region that is a higher risk for COVID-19, or think you may have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, we would appreciate you following this advice.

You can find more information about COVID-19 and what you need to know on the healthy.gov.au website.

The club is discussing other potential impacts the virus may have on us in the future and we are considering practical ways we can prepare ourselves should the need arise.

Thank you for your consideration and support of these important infection control procedures.
