COVID-19 Preventative Measures

17th March 2020

Dear Members,

The health and well being of our Member’s, staff and guests is of paramount importance. In order to minimise the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we will be actioning preventative measures immediately.

Due to the evolving nature of the outbreak, in addition to advice and directives handed down by governing bodies, these preventative measures may change on a day-by-day basis. We will be sure to keep you informed of changes as they arise.

Following advice circulated by Golf Management Australia with golf club recommendations in Australia, we are actioning the following items at Glenelg Golf Club commencing Wednesday 18th March 2020:

GOLF

  • Nearest the pins in all competitions will be cancelled until further notice. The money or balls allocated to these prizes will be fully allocated to a longer ball run in every competition. This eliminates the need for multiple people to touch the marker and name card
  • The small flags on all practice putting greens and chipping greens will be removed until further notice. The same number of holes will still be available and practice will continue as per normal
  • All players to use their gloved hand to remove and hold flags on the golf course
  • All players to use their gloved hand to hold rakes whilst raking bunkers
  • It is recommended that no cash bets take place or exchange hands following the round

PROSHOP

  • The Proshop has moved to cashless transactions effective immediately. All purchases need to be paid for using EFTPOS or credit card. The EFTPOS machine will be regularly wiped down throughout the day, however we encourage ‘Pay-wave’ transactions where no contact is required
  • Hard surfaces, including door handles, fridge doors, auto-score computer, and range ball machine will be routinely wiped down
  • Cleaning of pull buggy handles and golf cart steering wheels will take place before use

CATERING CART

  • Due to the high exposure risk that the Catering Cart poses, both to Members and staff, this service will be cancelled until further notice. Please purchase food and drinks prior to the round in the Clubhouse/ProShop or prepare water bottles, etc. before your round of golf.

WATER SUPPLY

  • The water stations in the locker room foyer and in the Gazebo on the 10th tee will be the only self-serve options available in the Clubhouse and on Course. These will be wiped down on a regular basis. These stations can be used to fill cups or personal water bottles. We ask Members to use appropriate care when refilling water bottles and not let any part of the vessel contact the taps or dispenser. All other water stations around the course will be turned off until further notice.

BAR/BISTRO

  • The bar and bistro will move to cashless transactions as of Wednesday 18th March 2020. All purchases over the bar will need to be paid for using member card, EFTPOS or credit card. The card readers and EFTPOS machine will be regularly wiped down throughout the day, however we encourage member card and ‘Pay-wave’ transactions where no contact is required
  • Water pitchers & glasses, coffee cups, menus, cutlery & crockery will be removed from public space and handed out by staff over the bar, as required
  • Soup, scones and bread rolls will be served from behind the bar, rather than the self-serve table. The biscuit barrel will be removed until further notice
  • Large tables will be broken down to accommodate a maximum of 8 patrons. While we would like Members to continue to enjoy each other’s company, it may be necessary to sit in smaller groups

BATHROOMS

  • All shared equipment and consumables have been removed from these spaces, including hairdryers, combs, sunscreen, deodorant, hair products and shoe polish
  • Some doors will be chocked open to avoid touching handles

GENERAL

  • Where possible, doors will be chocked open to avoid touching handles
  • Hard surfaces, including door handles, bench-tops, tables, vending machines, fridges etc. will be routinely wiped down
  • It is recommended not to hand shake
  • Where possible please distance yourself 1.5m from other players

If you have any questions in relation to these temporary preventative measures, please contact General Manager, Robert Vincekovic, on (08) 8350 3200.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation at this very difficult time not only for Glenelg Golf Club but the entire country.
