Sanderson Cup Report
Round 4, 23 June
Playing at Mt Osmond against Kooyonga our girls fought back well to finish with a halved match. The match was close all day and thankfully 2 of the 3 matches that went down 18 went our way with 2 clutch putts going in and we salvaged a half.
Kooyonga are a very experienced team and it was evident this helped them with their strong course management on the tricky hills course.
Tilly Wheare playing her first match in A1 was stronger than her opponent all day, her length being her strength, and won comfortably 4 & 3.
Jade Kinita played some good golf but her putter let her down when she needed it. She fought very hard but lost her match 2 down.
Shakira Kuys was 1 down with 2 to play and sank 2 putts on the last 2 holes to win her match 1 up. A great back nine Shakira and showed very good nerves!
Sarah Crocker played a very steady strong player and did not have her best day to lose 6 & 5.
Charley Jacobs was somewhat erratic for her high standards and had trouble hitting fairways. She showed strong resolve on the 18th to win the hole with a par after sinking a 12 foot putt to allow the team to halve.
This was always going to be a tough match with 2 girls out so I think the halved result was quite good, but the challenge is now on to beat our arch rivals Grange next week so we can finish on top of the ladder.
Thanks to our caddies Tony Martin, Chris Whitford, Jayne Staridas, Chris Croker, & Cath Symons- we do really appreciate it!!
Thanks also to our Captains coming out to watch- Sue R , Bevan & wife Marg and to parents Mark Kinita & Charley’s mum & dad.
Hope you can come & support the girls at Kooyonga next Sunday at 12.25pm – I know you will see some exceptional golf!
