Pike Cup Round 2 Report
Round 2, 2 June
Playing on our Home turf the team stepped out strongly to take an early lead going through 3. This continued through to the turn however the difficult 9, 10, 11 holes in the rain, as well as strengthening wind, saw a few of our early leads reduced.
Tilly, Lou and Eliza again showed strong resolve to finish out their games with a comfortable 6/5 win for all three.
Bec’s opponent was far too steady, leaving little opportunity for her to recover and finished her match 2 down on the 17th.
Sam’s match finished on the 17th with a magnificent pressure shot, to within 3 meters of the pin (not bad for our number 1 hole!) and a 2 up win. The team won 4 / 1.
Thanks to the caddies and supporters who came out to watch and to Taylah for her additional assistance. Thanks again to Sarah who may not have heard our opponent’s compliments about Glenelg’s consistently strong chipping and putting skills – a big message for all of us.
Currently at the top of the ladder, the team have a rest next week due to the June long weekend but are looking forward to meeting Royal Adelaide (only 1 game behind us) on 16 June at The Grange -West at 12.25. It should be our toughest fight to date – hope you can join us!
