Cleek 2 Report
Round 7, 24 June
It was a freezing day at Thaxted for a do-or-die match against Kooyonga. Whichever team won would almost certainly be in the semi finals.
Gerry Hall and Frances Macpherson both started very strongly and were 3 up after the first four holes. Both players maintained their lead throughout the match were always in control, Gerry winning 7/6 and Frances winning 4/3
Joanne Rice and Annette Rieniets had very tough matches and found the slippery Thaxted greens quite tricky. Both players fought hard but were unable to get to the lead.
Jo McCarthy and her opponent played a very even contest with the lead changing a number of times. This match went down to the wire with Jo holding her nerve and winning 1 up on the 18th to secure the win for Glenelg.
This means we now play semi finals next Monday at Kooyonga against The Grange.
Looking forward to a great contest. I’m sure our team will do us proud.
