Money raised for Cancer Council through Card Day

Our 10th Annual Card Day was smaller than usual, yet still managed to raise $1,104 for the Fiona Pike Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign and Cancer Council.

We were joined on the day by Kay Pike, Fiona’s mother, and our lunch time guest speaker, Emma McKee from Cancer Council SA.  Emma spoke about the broad spectrum of work that the Council undertakes and also explained how community fundraising money is spent.

Raffle winner Julie LaslettLady members made a delicious range of slices for card players to enjoy throughout the day and a very big thank you to all who spent time baking.

Once again, we held a fabulous raffle and I would like to thank the following businesses for kindly donating prizes.

Murray’s Country Cottages (Coonawarra) gave a voucher for 2 people (2 nights accommodation) in the beautiful Limestone Coast area.  Arbonne International (health & skin care products) provided sponsorship this year with three beautiful gift parcels.  Raffle winners Sue Milte and Carmel FairweatherMichael Vella (Fred Vella Crash Repairs) donated 4 vouchers.  The Flying Fish Café in Port Elliot also donated a voucher.

Thank you also to all the ladies who gave items for our 2 fabulous gift baskets and to Carmel Fairweather and Lou Pike for their special prizes.

Finally, thank you to all our hospitality staff who looked after everyone beautifully throughout  the day.
