Course Superintendent, Daryl Sellar Resigns

We wish to advise members that Daryl Sellar has tendered his resignation from Glenelg Golf Club.  He has been offered the great opportunity to work in the wider turf industry as an agronomist with Living Turf, an expanding Sydney based consultancy and product distribution company.

As noted in his message below, this has been an incredibly tough decision for Daryl, but the challenge of this new role combined with his existing business interests mean it is the right decision for him and his family.

Daryl has long been regarded as one of the leading superintendents in Australia and we have been extremely fortunate to have retained his services for the last 18 years.  Daryl has been a key figure in the course’s rise up the national rankings and has consistently presented Glenelg to the highest of standards, enhancing our reputation during his tenure.  He has been a wonderful employee and friend of the Club.  Daryl will be extremely difficult to replace and sadly missed by Staff, Committee and Members alike.

While the departure will present some short-term challenges, the team Daryl has built, headed up by Course Operations Manager Simon Grieve, is very committed and capable.

This will be a critical appointment for the Club and we will advertise the position nationally once the Committee of Management has agreed on the recruitment process.  We will keep members updated as we work through the process.

Daryl’s last official day will be Friday, 9th March and we will advise shortly of the details of an appropriate farewell for Daryl to celebrate his enormous contribute to our great Club.
