2018 Junior Development Golf Day

The 3rd annual Junior Development Golf Day was held on Sunday, 21st January 2018. The junior cohort was represented by 21 boys and 7 girls ranging from age 8 to 18.

A 9:30am start saw the juniors take part in high intensity Speed Burners and Ramsay Exercises to get the blood pumping and muscles working. The juniors were split up into smaller groups and assigned to one of the Club’s professional coaches where they focused on pitching, chipping and putting drills. Once all warmed up and ready to go, the juniors headed out onto the course with their newly learnt skills to play 18 holes of stableford golf.

With the juniors split up into two different handicap divisions the competition was on to see who could score the most points.

Along the way juniors challenged themselves to long drive competitions as well and nearest to pin competitions which saw many good shots on all the par 3’s. Calvin Perks and Josh McBride finished nearest to the pin on the 3rd hole. Josh Grundel was the only junior to hit the tricky 11th green. Harry Edwards and Josh Grundel found the green on the 14th which won them balls. Finally Harry Edwards and Noah Collison stuck their balls onto the very difficult 16th hole to claim the nearest to pin.

Long drives went to Harry Edwards and Elkie Philp on the 9th hole and Calvin Perks and Elkie Philp on the 18th hole.
