Jack Leonard – Junior Star

Here at Glenelg Golf Club we are extremely proud of the on course success of our juniors, but more importantly, how each of our juniors grow to be a valuable part of our Club.  Below is an account from Geoff Hallion, who played with 9 year old Jack Leonard on Tuesday, 12th December.

Dear Ben and Shane,

Today (Tuesday) our group of Trevor Oxley, Rob Ashby and myself were joined on the tee by 9 year old junior cadet, Jack Leonard.  We found Jack to be enthusiastic, dedicated, competent and confident in all aspects of shot making, as well as golf rules and etiquette.  I explained the concept of “ready golf”.  Jack was willing to learn and understood the concept immediately and we held our position for the round.

We found Jack to be sociable and friendly and we all enjoyed having him in our group.  Our ages totaled 220 years but Jack was only able to contribute 9 years but that didn’t phase him (or us) at all.  We all finished with a Stableford score with a 3 in front of it, but Jack was the only one in our group who scored on every hole.

Jack demonstrated excellent golf and personal attributes and was not only a credit to himself but also to the excellent work of his coaches, Adrian Wickstein and Sarah King and the Glenelg Junior Golf Program.  He is an asset to our club.

Geoff

Well done Jack and thank you Geoff, Trevor & Rob for sharing your story with us!
