Tight win against Country Districts

Report by Paul Grosvenor
Team Manager

The Sharp Cup Team travelled to Kooyonga to play Country Districts in the third round of the season. In foggy weather, on a beautifully manicured course, the team had a close 3 – 2 win.

Luke Sandford played at No. 5 and, after a rough start being 3 down through 3, Luke dug deep and played some excellent golf. At one point he won 8 holes in a row, closing out the match with a 4/3 win.

At No. 4, Mitch Ward got off to a very strong start and played solid golf all day to win his match 2/1.

Aaron Buchanan played at No. 3 and relished the foggy Scottish weather. Aaron played some exception golf and won his match 5/3.

At No. 2 Marcus Kuys unfortunately wasn’t able to get into his match, this resulted in him being beaten 4/2.

Liam Kennewell played at No. 1 and had a tough and tight match on his hands from the 1st hole. Both Liam and his opponent played some quality golf which included halving the 4th hole in birdies. Although Liam fought hard, unfortunately he was beaten 3/1.

The win puts Glenelg on top of the Sharp Cup table ahead of Kooyonga by the smallest of margins with both clubs tied on the same number of contests and matches. Sundays upcoming match at The Vines against Kooyonga is incredibly important with only two rounds remaining.
