Solid Start for Sharp Cup Team

Mitch WardReport by Paul Grosvenor
Team Manager

The Sharp Cup Team travelled to Tea Tree Gully to play against Tea Tree Gully in the first round of the season. In challenging winds the Team had a very solid 4 1/2 matches to 1/2 match win.

With Tea Tree Gully having an insufficient number of players Luke Sandford was awarded a 10/8 win in the number 5 match.

At number four Mitch Ward played his first game of Sharp Cup. Mitch has been a very hardworking golfer for a number of years and it was fantastic to see him rewarded with a 8/6 victory.

Aaron Buchanan played at number three and had a tough match on his hands from early on. Aaron was down all day until he won the 17th which got his match back to square. A very difficult down hill putt on the 18th unfortunately cost Aaron the overall win, with his match being halved.

At number two Harry Edwards got of to a slow start. However his focus and determination saw some excellent golf on the back nine including an eagle. Harry won his match 1 up with some very disciplined play in the closing holes.

Veteran Sharp Cup player Liam Kennewell played at number one against a strong opponent. Although Liam was playing solid golf he was down most of the day, but to his credit he fought hard. His perseverance paid off when he won his match on the 18th.

Overall a great result for the Team, who are looking forward to their next match against The Vines at The Grange on Sunday.
