Jackson Kalz and Charley Jacobs claimed their first Club Junior Championship titles last Sunday, 9th October 2016.
Jackson Kalz won the Boys’ Club Junior Championship title, defeating Jacob Rillotta in the final on Sunday, 2/1. Kalz played solid golf to overcome Rillotta, coming home strongly over the closing holes to clinch the trophy on the 17th hole.
Earlier in the day, Kalz had defeated Jack Buchanan in the semi-final, whilst Rillotta had defeated 2015 Club Champion Jack Tanner 4/3.
In the Boys’ Handicap Matchplay Championship, Darcy Burns defeated Aaron Buchanan in the 18-hole final 5/4 after overcoming Harry Edwards in the semi-final that morning, with Buchanan defeating Calvin Perks to secure his finals berth.
Charley Jacobs, who joined Glenelg in 2015, took out the Girls’ Club Junior Championship with a round of 81. Yike Ma claimed the Ella Cole Trophy for the best net score, and finished 2nd in the Girls’ Club Junior Championship.
Matilda Wheare won the Anne Smerdon Junior Girls’ Invitational, which was played in conjunction with the junior championships, with a score of 80, with Charley Jacobs finishing in second place.
