Whitbread & Jacobs win 2016 SA Country Junior Champs

2016 SA Country Junior Champions - Brodie Whitbread & Charley JacobsGlenelg’s Brodie Whitbread & Charley Jacobs have won the 2016 SA Country Junior Championships, played at Bordertown Golf Club on 17th & 18th September.

Whitbread, who fired a 74 in the first round, followed up with an even par 71 in round 2, and a 2-over par 73 in round 3. He finished at 5-over par, twelve shots ahead of Glenelg member Marcus Kuys, who finished in 2nd place with a total score of 230.

Another two Glenelg junior members finished in the top 5, with Lachlan Redden finishing in 3rd place with rounds of 80, 78 and 79 (237). Josh Gumm finished in 5th place with a total score of 238, with rounds of 83, 78 and 77.

In the Girls SA Country Junior Championships, Glenelg’s Charley Jacobs fired a course record 71 in the first round, followed up with a 77 in round 2, and an 84 in round 3. Charley finished with a total of 232, forty-three shots ahead of fellow Glenelg member Shakira Kuys, who finished in 2nd place with a total score of 275.
