Glenelg’s Darcy Burns, Mitch Ward and Kane Hyams have taken out the SSSSA Teams Knockout Qualifying event played at North Adelaide Golf Club on Monday.
All three juniors, representing Sacred Heart College’s team 2, recorded a team score of 100 points to win the event by two from Henley High School’s team 1 comprising Glenelg members Aaron Buchanan and Charley Jacobs, and Darren Kong.
The win was an outstanding result for the boys, particularly for Darcy Burns and Kane Hyams, who have only just recently joined Glenelg through the Club’s Sacred Heart College Middle School Talent ID Program being run by our teaching professional, Adrian Wickstein, also a Sacred Heart College Old Scholar.
The talent ID program was a huge success for the Club in its first year in 2015 with a number of new members, including Darcy and Kane, joining the Club. Our 2016 program, which commenced earlier this year, has seen numbers increase again, with Club member and Sacred Heart College teacher, Adam Rice, managing the program from the school’s end.
