Youth v Experience in Club Champs final

Anthony Olsen will be vying for his first Club Championship title this Sunday

14-year old Jack Tanner will be one of the youngest members ever to compete in a Club Championship final this SundayIt will be a battle of youth versus experience in the 2015 Club Championship final this Sunday with Simpson Cup player and 2015 Pennant Player of the Year, Anthony Olsen, taking on 14 year old youngster, Jack Tanner, in the 36 hole final.

Olsen, who also took out the RF Stevens Trophy as leading qualifier, defeated Liam Kennewell and Henry Duregon last Sunday to secure a place in his first Club Championship final, whilst Jack Tanner disposed of James Bridgen and fellow junior Jackson Kalz to reach his first final.

Tanner only recently returned from the Club’s High Performance Squad 5-day junior trip to Melbourne for the Australian Masters, with the experience clearly having an impression on the youngster’s form in both his quarter and semi finals.

Jill Hodge will take on Sophie James in the 18 hole Women’s Open Championship final, after Hodge defeated Elysia Yap and James defeated Josie Hodge in the semi-finals.  Their match will tee off at 11:35am this Sunday.

In the A Grade Plate, Brian Welsh will take on Mark Dignan in the 18 hole final this Sunday, whilst Vice Captain Paul Duregon will challenge Scott Franks for the B Grade Championship title.  Wayne Humphries takes on Neil Higgins in the Senior Championship final, and Bob Schmidt and Phil Maunder will fight out for the B Grade Plate title.  In the C Grade titles, Bevan Roberts will take on John Tregeagle for the Plate and 17-year Austin Baker comes up against Ron Heald for the Championship.

The Club Championship final tees off the 1st tee at 7:45am this Sunday, with all other matches commencing from 10:30am.  We encourage members to come out and support players in their respective finals.
