UPDATE: Western car park redevelopment works

Western Car Park

At the September monthly meeting, the Committee of Management signed off on final plans and budget for the Western Car Park redevelopment.

Following the finalisation of the engineering and pavement design report, tenders were called for the project from three local companies experienced in car park redevelopment works, with Fulton Hogan selected as the successful tenderer.

Fulton Hogan has more than 80 years’ experience as roading and surfacing experts and has developed world-leading best practices for producing high-performance road and pavement surfaces. Their highly-skilled, dedicated technical and delivery teams work closely with customers to continually deliver high-quality projects and services – on time and to budget.  Recent major projects undertaken in South Australia include the Southern and Northern Expressway surfacing, and more locally, were responsible for the recent upgrade of the Royal Adelaide Golf Club entry road and car park redevelopment.

Preliminary works have already been undertaken by the Club, including previous vegetation clearing and earthworks, and more recent drainage and conduit works.

Fulton Hogan will have a surveyor on site in the week commencing Monday, 12th October, with civil construction works expected to commence in the week commencing Monday, 19th October.  Project planning works are currently underway with the expectation that the car park will be accessible at all times.  Some restrictions will be in place during the course of the works and these will be controlled by Fulton Hogan workers.  We ask all members to observe and respect any direction given by workers during construction.

Civil construction works are expected to take approx. 2-3 weeks with Monday, 16th November currently targeted for final resurfacing and line marking works.

The total budget for the Western Car Park redevelopment will be approx. $220k (inclusive of all earthworks, civil works and associated drainage and electrical works) and has been allocated as part of the Club’s 2015 capital expenditure budget.

Upon completion, total formal parking capacity in the Western Car Park will increase from 89 to 164, with a subsequent reduction in informal parking capacity (gravel/grassed areas) of approx. 30.  The Club’s total formal parking capacity will be increased from 190 to 265 spaces, with an additional 15-20 informal spaces remaining available if required.

For many years, the Western Car Park area has been an eyesore and not reflective of the Club’s position as one of the premier private members’ golf clubs and function centres in Australia.  Not only will these works minimise disruption and inconvenience to members and guests, the works will significantly enhance the presentation of the Club’s main car park and entry point for members and guests.
