Glenelg scoops awards at SA Golf Industry dinner

Glenelg Golf Club has scooped the awards at the 2015 SA Golf Industry Awards Night held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday night.

The evening commenced with 2015 SA Amateur Champion, Lachy Barker, receiving the Golf SA Boys’ Vardon Trophy following a stellar junior vardon series in 2014/2015, and Will Starkey taking out second place in the 2015 Men’s Vardon Trophy.

General Manager, David Brand, was awarded the Golf Management Australia (SA) award for Excellence in Golf Club Management, whilst our Course Superintendent, Daryl Sellar, received the SA Golf Course Superintendents Association Excellence in Turf Management award.  To finish off the evening, our Head Teaching Professional, Gareth Jones, was awarded the prestigious PGA Teaching Professional of the Year award.

The awards were a fitting recognition of the hard work undertaken by the Club’s Committee of Management and senior management personnel over the last few years in delivering on our vision to be recognised by members and the golfing community as providing the best overall package of golf course, service and facilities in South Australia and ranked among the best in Australia.

Also on the evening, the Best Golf Holes in South Australia were announced, as judged by Sports Columnist for the Sunday Mail, Ben Hook and Royal Adelaide Teaching Professional, Daniel Blackwell.  Glenelg’s par five 18th hole was included in the top 18 holes, with 9 holes reserved for metropolitan courses and 9 holes from country course across the state.  A full listing is available here.
