Glenelg's Josie Hodge

Report by Cathy Johnson (Manager)

Glenelg’s Women’s Grade 1 team had an outstanding 5-0 win against Royal Adelaide at Royal Adelaide on Sunday to keep their Championship defence on track.

Sarah Crocker, at number 5, made steady progress and was 3 up early after six holes. She maintained that strong lead to continued her unbeaten streak with a convincing 5/3 win

Josie Hodge, at number 4, was slow to get started but was 2 up after seven holes. She then won the next five holes! She closed out the match with a magnificent long birdie putt from off the green for a 7/6 win.

Sophie James, at number 3, was 1 down after two holes but with a win on each of the next five holes she was 4 up after seven holes. Along the way she had a 225 metre drive! Sophie maintained her lead and closed out her match on 14 with a 5/4 win.

Elysia Yap, at number 2, was square after the first three holes and then she too started her winning streak to be 3 up after six, 6 up after ten and finished at the 12th with a 7/6 result.

Jenny Lee, returned from Britain to reclaim her spot at number 1. Her golf was not spectacular; she was square after three holes but like her team mates, was able to string a number of wins together to be 4 up after seven and complete the job at the 14th to win 6/4.

Next week we face our biggest challenge, The Grange at Kooyonga.  We would love to see Glenelg Golf Club members out supporting our talented Pennant Champions attempting to retain their title for a 4th time.
