The first round of the Lois White & Raynee Harmer Extreme Veterans Matchplay Trophy commenced at Glenelg on Tuesday.
This event has been initiated to acknowledge our growing number of playing members over 80 years of age and will be held annually. It takes the form of a nine-hole handicapped matchplay event.
Lois White (now 100 years of age) and her sister, Raynee Harmer, played for many years at Glenelg and the White family have kindly donated a trophy for the event in acknowledgement of the part our Club played in the lives of these ladies.
The first round was played in fine conditions and all contestants put on a great show. Helen Godwin, Margaret Coker, Val Baker and Betty Waddy progressed to the semi finals to be played next Tuesday at 10:30. Lillian McGuiness, Mary Armfild, Van Bain and Gwenda Henderson have all booked their spots for another try next year when numbers are expected to swell to 12 with three over 90s!
Following the matches, the Club kindly put on a lunch for the ladies which was much enjoyed.
