12 year old Glenelg member, Jack Buchanan, has taken out the 2014 Boys’ SAPSASA Championship in style, with a chip in on the first playoff hole.
Playing on Adelaide Shores’ South Course, Jack had an up and down front nine, but rallied on the back, shooting one under to finish with a 77 and finding himself in a three way play off, with Frank Vucic of Kooyonga and Harrison Burner of Grange Golf Club.
On the first hole of sudden death, Jack hit a solid second shot which ran just through the back of the green, while Vucic finished up 20 feet from the hole. Left with a tricky chip off a downhill lie across a ridge in the green. Jack opted for a chip and run which came out with perfect pace, ran across the ridge and into the bottom of the cup. Burner made bogey while Vucic missed his attempt to keep the play off going.
