Foundation Day raises $25k for junior golf

$25,000 has been raised for Junior Golf following the hugely successful 2014 Glenelg Golf Club Foundation Day played in glorious conditions on Friday.

Mother nature was very friendly as 128 players teed it up for the annual golf day, raising funds for the Glenelg Golf Club Foundation’s Development of Junior Golf project.

Supported by Major Partner, Pope, the residential brand of Toro, Gold Sponsors, Hahn Super Dry, Anvers Wines, Banners & Mash and Schweppes, superb scoring conditions saw the Hahn Super Dry team come out on top with a net Ambrose score of 51 1/8. Hole Sponsors, Skycity Adelaide Casino and City Mazda, also contributed generously to the day.

162 guests attended the Foundation Dinner, with the Foundation Day auction run by Club member, Paul McGrath of McGrath Real Estate, attracting some very generous bidding. The seven night stay at the Reef Resort in Port Douglas set the benchmark, going under the hammer for $2,900.

Graham Cornes entertained as guest speaker, reciting stories from his illustrious career, now recognised as an AFL Hall of Fame member. Some of his opinions on the current state of football were also well received by the crowd, who were in full attention during his highly engaging chat.
