Women’s A2 go down in opening round match

Glenelg Golf Club’s Women’s A2 season kicked off at Mt Osmond Golf Club at 8:00am Monday, 12th May against The Grange.

Delightfully, there were clear blue skies and almost no wind – not the usual fog and rain we so often see at Mt Osmond.

Sam White, playing at number five, got us off to a flying start. She was 3 up after four holes, drove the par 4, 7th  hole, giving her an eagle putt and was all done after 13 holes – 6&5…. Only three over the card!

Our debutante, Bec Hughes, at number four, was also up early and never headed – finishing 4&2. A fabulous start to her Pennant career.

Our next three players were not as fortunate. 

Ruth Martin, at number three, had a very close and hard fought match halving the 18th, but finishing one down. SO CLOSE.

Sue Raggatt had a much tougher assignment at number two.  She was disappointed with her result but came up against very strong opposition who got ahead early and played better golf on the day.

Sue Tuohy played at number one  – always a very difficult challenge. The match was close with fluctuating fortunes all day. Sue made it to the 17th, going down 2&1.

We never like to lose but we were close today and look forward to more positive results in the weeks to come.
