Connor Chant claims 2014 Jimmy Mac

Connor Chant19 year-old Connor Chant has claimed the 2014 Jimmy McLachlan Memorial Trophy by a comfortable 5 shot margin.

Fresh off a strong result in the recent Golf SA Classic at Glenelg, Chant was off to a hot start with an impressive 69 in the morning round, aided by a solid short game and a very hot putter. Josh Hayes was within striking distance, after a solid one over par 72.

With the breeze picking up only slightly in the afternoon and the greens rolling immaculately, conditions were going to aid anyone aiming to go low in the afternoon and chase down Chant. It was not to be however, with Chant grinding out a four over par 75 in the afternoon for a two round total of 144. Josh Hayes had a disappointing 77 in the afternoon to finish in second place while David Hiern had the best round of the afternoon, a 72 to finish in third, with 150 for the two rounds. Anthony Olsen claimed fourth spot with rounds of 77, 74 while Club Champion, Campbell Rawson rounded out the top 5 with rounds of 81, 75, tied with Leigh Attenborough following rounds of 78, 78.
