Lee falls just short of 3rd Junior Amateur Title

Glenelg’s Jenny Lee has finished an agonisingly close one shot short of taking out her third consecutive Golf SA Junior Amateur Championship following the final round played at Glenelg Golf Club today.

Lee fired a 3-over par 75 around the challenging women’s championship course, matching the final round score of eventual champion, Rebecca Kay from Coolangatta Golf Club, who finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 228.  Second round leader Kristalle Blum, from The Grange, fired a final round 81 to finish 3rd, three shots behind Kay.

In the boys’ event, The Grange’s Anthony Murdaca shot a final round 73 to finish the tournament at a 1-over par total of 216 and take the title.  Glenelg’s Josh Hayes, who was tied 2nd after two rounds, struggled in the difficult conditions with a final round 86, but still finished within the top 10.  Second round leader Tom Couling, from Commonwealth Golf Club in Melbourne, also struggled around the tough layout to shoot a final round 79.

Lachlan Booth was the best placed Glenelg member, finishing with a final round 77 for a 54-hole total of 227, tied for 6th place.
